Paul Michael Fike, age 49, of Bloomington. Born on April 2, 1953, went home to his Heavenly Father on Nov. 10, 2002.
Preceded in death by parents, Abel Lester & Teresa Rosalie (Archer) Fike.
Survived by beloved wife, Janis; cherished stepchildren, Jason, Jeffrey and Jeremy Rykken, and Jennifer Dunham and parents-in-law, Melvin & Margaret Olson; brother, Anthony (Jill) Fike; sisters, Teresa (Eloy) Garcia, Mary Lita Fike (Mari Haddox), Rita (Walter) Schmidt, Collette (Bruce) Lees, Doris (Doyle) Carlblom; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, David (Joan) Olson, Robert (Becky) Olson, Barbara (Bruce) Lind and Craig Olson; many nephews and nieces, including Angela, Peter (Melissa), Alicia & Michael Garcia, Abraham & David Schmidt, Dan, Steve & Lora Fike, Charles, David & Anne Lees, Linda & Kelly Carlblom, Megan Olson, Katie & Matthew Olson, Elizabeth & Kyle Olson, Kenny & Anna Lind; and grand-niece, Rainey Garcia.
Paul grew up on a farm outside Wyoming, MN, attending St. Peter's Catholic Elementary School in Forest Lake, and Hill High School in St. Paul, where he was on the varsity wrestling team. During and after high school, Paul worked with his father in the plumbing business. He served in the Navy from 1972-1976 on the U.S.S. Columbus, U.S.S. Constellation, and U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. After that, he worked with his uncle, Neil Fike, in construction and as a roller rink manager in Seattle. He finally returned home to the Twin Cities where he obtained his Realtor's license and worked as a Realtor, a homebuyer's agent and an educator in realty continuing education. He later obtained a contractor's license and opened several construction businesses including Kitchen Solvers, Counter Tops by Design and Delta Builders. Although Paul was very busy as a self-employed entrepreneuer, he was devoted to his family and generously gave to his community. He married Janis on Nov. 24, 1991 and acquired an instant family that he treasured. Paul served as a coach with the BAA for girls basketball and softball for many years in which daughter Jennifer participated. He also taped Talking Books for the blind every Friday for several years. He was active in his church serving as Property Deacon for six years and could often be seen around the church wearing his tool belt and fixing whatever was needed. He will be remembered always for his strong work ethic, his constant willingness to lend a helping hand, and his support and charity for family and community. "Although his physical heart failed, his spiritual heart continues great with love in the house of his Father."
Interment Ft. Snelling. Funeral service Thursday, 10 am at CrossPoint Church, 9801 France Ave S., Bloomington. Visitation one hour prior to service at the church, and Wednesday, 4-7 pm at: WERNESS BROTHERS 2300 W Old Shakopee Rd 952-884-8145
