Vester Rose was born January 21, 1942 in Jackson County and departed this life Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his residence, being 67 years of age. He was the son of the late Delbert & Myrtle Rose.

Vester is survived by his wife Norma Jean Rose; by one daughter Lisa Lakes & Gary Lakes of Annville and by three sons Marty Rose & wife Charleen, Doug Rose & wife Michelle and Vester Lee Rose & Regina all of Sand Gap, KY. He is also survived by two brothers Virgil Rose of McKee, KY and Carl Rose of Sand Gap, KY and by eight sisters Mildred Moore, Alpha Turner & Annette Turner all of Sand Gap, KY, Evelyn Marcum & Mable Turner both of Berea, KY, Eileen Harrison & Geraldine Isaacs both of Stamping Ground, KY and Margaret Spivey of Indiana. Vester was blessed with six grandchildren Micah Rose, Stisha Shannon & Lance, Nicole Williams & Jarrod, Brandon Rose, Justin Lakes and Brittany Rose and by two great-grandchildren Kylie & Elijah Shannon.

In addition to his parents, Vester was also preceded in death by one son James David Rose and by one brother Lloyd Rose.

Vester was a retired farmer and Magistrate serving twenty one years for Jackson County.


Funeral service was held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Kerby, Bro. Eugene Gentry, Bro. Ellis Abner & Bro. John Gross officiating. Burial followed in the Murphy Cemetery at Chestnut Flat. Pallbearers were Ray Adkins, Art Johnson, Darrell Harrison, Jerry Goforth, Bud Brockman & Greg Rose. Honorary pallbearers were Micah & Brandon Rose, Justin & Gary Lakes, Stacey Moore, Darren & Dustin Hisel, Lance Shannon, Jarrod Williams & Donald "Doodle" Durham (of Lexington, KY). Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
