Lavonne Elias, 85, of Kasson, passed away at Seasons Hospice in Rochester on Saturday, Dec. 19, after three months of declining health.
Lavonne was born in Mantorville Township, Dodge County, on Nov. 4, 1924, to Oscar and Dahlia Suhr. She graduated from Mantorville High School. In 1945 she married Charles Elias. They farmed in Milton Township until moving to Kasson in 1973.
Lavonne was a full-time mother who enjoyed reading her Bible, church activities, cooking, baking, and spending time with family, including 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Lavonne is survived by her husband of 64 years and children, Richard (Jan) Elias, Suecarol (Gerry) Schuler, daughter-in-law Lois Elias, JoLynn (David) Skogen, Brenda (Rick) Naatz and Brian (Henrietta) Wong; brothers, Dean (Joy) Suhr and Lloyd (Betty) Suhr; sister, Irma Torgerson; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Suhr. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Antone Elias, a daughter-in-law, Bec Elias, a brother Wayne Suhr, a brother-in-law, Ted Torgerson, and sisters-in-law Lois Suhr and Kathy Suhr.
Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Kasson from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at First Baptist Church, 304 4th St. N.W., Kasson. Pastor Harley Betzholt will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville.
