Artimus Alexander was born in Rutland, Vermont, April 7, 1832, and died January 6, 1911, at the home of his son-in-law, B.E. Thompson near Chester. When a child he moved with his parents to Buffalo, N.Y., and later to Illinois. In 1858 he married Miss Emily Wolcott, to this union three daughters were born, two of them, Mrs. B.E. Thompson and Mrs. G.G. Hulbert, and his wife survive him.

In 1885 they came to Kansas (near Chester) where they have resided ufftil (sic) his death. Early in life he united with the Baptist church and in his last sickness expressed his readiness to die. The funeral services were held at the home of hss (sic) son-in-law, B.E. Thompson, Saturday afternoon, conducted by Elder D.L. Youtsy, pastor of the Christian church. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic).
