Irene Marshall Hobson, 94, of Crozet, departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2009, at Louisa Health Care Center.
She was born October 21, 1915, to the late Charles C. Marshall and Lenora Wood Marshall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicklous Alvoy Hobson; and her son, Charles B. Wood; her sister, Maude M. Dickey; and her brothers, Homer W. Marshall and Forrest R. Marshall Sr.
Mrs. Hobson was a homemaker and caregiver to her sister, Maude M. Dickey, who suffered with Multiple Sclerosis. Mrs. Hobson was a long time member of Tabor Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and was a faithful member of the choir and historian. She was historian and secretary of the Homemakers Club and an avid bowler.
She is survived by one sister, Eleanora Short of Charlottesville; one son, Gene N. Hobson and his wife, Shaolan, of New Jersey; two daughters, Vickie H. Elliott and her husband, Robert M. Elliott, of Tennessee, and Judy H. Bain of Richmond; eight grandchildren, Paula, Mike, Melissa, Meredith, Megan, Mark, Christopher and Rebecca; five great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Anderson Funeral Home, St. George Avenue, Crozet. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.
