WALNUT COVE, NC — Mr. Marvin Reed Kendrick Sr., 85, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born in Patrick County, Virginia, to Charlie Reid and Minnice Pearl Stone Kendrick.
He served his country proudly in the US Army.
He was a weaver with Carter Fabric and was later the owner and operator of Hope Rug Company.
He was a member of Stokesdale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Laura Lucille W. Kendrick; a sister, Nellie Hammock; and four brothers, Willie, Herbert, David, and Robert Kendrick.
He is survived by his wife, Cleo Bullins Brim Kendrick; three children, Virginia Kendrick Rogers (Jimmy) of Greensboro, Marvin Reed Kendrick Jr. (Linda) of Reidsville, and Anita Kendrick Staton of Summerfield; four sisters, Ersley Smith of Yanceyville, Olean Mosley of Eden, Gladys Lawrence (Thomas) of Ruffin, and Adean Harris (Harold) of Reidsville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 18, at Stokesdale Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by Burroughs Funeral Home.
