Oliver Benjamin Phillips was born in Danville, Illinois, son of Murdock and Anna Mariah Phillips.
He came to South Dakota in 1912 and farmed in the Frankfort community.
He married Eva R. Keller in 1924. Four children were born to them.

Survivors: widow, Eva; son, Dean Phillips of Frankfort; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn (Willard ) Meyer of Hayti; Mrs. Jane (Dick ) Grunland of Minneapolis,MN; Mrs. Maxine (Clayton) Johnson of Great Falls, Montana; a sister, Mrs. Allie Bowman of Lebanon,Missouri; 10 grandchildren.
