George Henry Biddy, Jr. was born in 1896 in Lampasas, Texas to George Henry Biddy, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hester. He was one of thirteen children, 10 boys and three girls. He volunteered in May 1918 for service in World War I and while overseas contracted emphysema, which he had all the rest of his life. In 1919 he married Addie Georgia Lorena Johnson. As a result of his emphysema and being a returning veteran, the government helped him to become an electrician's apprentice in Corsicana. World War II, he used his electrician skills to help with the building of Army camps. For many years he lived west of town on the Cowhead road before moving to a farm on both sides of Highway 14 just west of Corbet. After several years he sold the farm, retired and moved back into Corsicana. In 1970, his wife died. Both are buried in Hamilton Beeman Cemetery beside their son, Charles Howard Biddy, who died at a young age. George was a WWI vet and worked on the Army camps during WWII as an electrician, an outside contractor. He is survived by one son, Vinson Biddy of Kerens, three daughters, Mrs. Doris Rogers of Corbett; Mrs. Margaret Gowan of Odessa; Mrs. Frances Kirk of San Diego, Calif.; by two sisters, Mrs. Suzie Wilmouth of Portland, Ore. And Mrs. Mary Rhymes of Lampasas; by 11 grandchildren, and by four great grandchildren. Pallbears will be T. R. Lake, Darrell B. Nevill, Don Taylor, Leon Phillips, G. W. Dickson, and Cleo Ford. Services will be Sunday at 4 PM in the Griffin Funeral Home for George Biddy, who died Saturday in a Temple hospital. The Rev. Gene McCann will officiate, with burial in Hamilton Beeman Cemetery.
