George Bonds, 70, of Buck Meadows, dies in Sonora
George W. Bonds, 70, a retired Forest Service employee, died at a hospital in Sonora Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. A native of Grass Valley, Bonds had resided in Tuolumne County for many years, engaged for twenty two years with the U. S. Forest Service. He had made his home for the greater part of that time at Buck Meadows.
Graveside funeral services were held at the cemetery at Dudley station on Greeley Hill, near Coulterville, at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Will Callahan, of Twain Harte, officiated.
Bonds leaves his widow, Mrs. Fay Bonds, of Buck Meadows; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Jenkins and Mrs. Lizzie Borath, of Coulterville; and three brothers: James G. and Ed Bonds , of Coulterville; and Birney Bonds, of the Ellinwood Ranch.
George was of medium height and weight and had brown hair and gray eyes.
