I was born in Truckee, CA and raised in King's Beach, CA (North Lake Tahoe)where I spent a lot of time at the beach and working.I attended and graduated from Tahoe-Truckee Unified schools. My parents owned the King's Beach Variety Store, Tahoe Toggery, and Tots n' Toys stores at certain times in King's Beach. Yes, their really was a Joe King, for which King's Beach is named after. I knew him. I lived in Gardnerville, Nevada, not far from King's Beach and Tahoe for many years, but I now live and work in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Our line of the Porath family has been in California since my Great Grandfather deserted from the German Marines while serving on the SMS Hertha on a visit to San Francisco in June of 1872.
