Democratic Woman Leader Dies at 62

Mrs. Bessie Foster, long active in 10th ward Democratic politics, died this morning at a St. Joseph hospital at the age of 62.

For many years, Mrs. Foster had conducted a rally for all Democratic candidates during each primary campaign. The events drew record crowds and were colorful with candidates airing their charges and countercharges.

Mrs. Foster, widow of James T. (should be H.) Foster, made her home at 45 East Valley street. She was born at Agency and had lived in St. Joseph 45 years. She was a member of the Hyde Park Methodist Church and the Ideal Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J. T. Carbry; a brother Robert Deatherage, and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Turner and Mrs. Fannie McCray, all of St. Joseph. The body is at the Clark funeral home.
