Sadie Ione Stearns was born in Morgan co TN, her mother, Edith Mason, passed away shortly after the turn of the century,9-10-1901, also, her 2 little sisters died. the Stearns grandparents took Ione and Carlton, along with the older girls, Ethel, Ada,and Winnie, to Fairhope, Alabama. wavy dark hair, blue eyes. her father, Charles Stearns moved out to WA with the Mason grandparents. Etta and her husband moved to Hoquiam, WA too. the rest all came out later, after living some time in a rental house in Fairhope near Uncle Albert and his family. out in Hoquiam, Ione, gma Sarah and Charles lived together on the Aberdeen- Hoquiam border after Otis died. Ione was a dancer in the follies in Seattle. she married Nate Siegel 16 jan 1942 in Skamania co WA. they had a jewelry-second hand store,lived in the back of it, in Portland,Or. Beth and Doris hitchiked from Elma to Portland to see them, Ione gave each a ruby ring. when Doris and Harold visited,and they went out they would put all the jewelry into Harold's pockets to keep the landlady from taking it. when Charles died, Ione made the trip up the Columbia by train in a terrible storm to Walla Walla to take care of things. After Nate died, she stayed with Edye, Carlton's widow, in Seattle where she died, buried in Portland next to Nate. I remember her and Nate coming for visits. they had no children. copies for your own personal info only.
