Emily Jane Stevenson was the eighth of ten known children of James Hall Stevenson (1803-1886) and Emily Clement Janes Stevenson (1817-1899), who married 25 Dec 1833 at Hot Springs, Hot Springs County, Arkansas. Emily's father James' was born in North Carolina, but raised in Missouri. James Stevenson moved to Arkansas in c1829 and taught school. After marrying Emily Janes in 1833 they continued to live in Arkansas until 1849 when they moved to Lamar County, Texas. They lived there until 1860 when they moved to Coryell County, Texas.

Emily Stevenson married Clement Reese Chatham (1847-1934) on 19 Feb 1873 at Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas. Clement was the son of James Harvey Chatham (b. c1818 at Sumter County, South Carolina; d. 27 Apr 1883 at Louisiana) and Caroline Bulgar (the first of James' three wives) (1822-1854, who died in Alabama), who married 23 Dec 1839 at Montgomery County, Alabama.

Clement was a Veteran of the Civil War, serving with an Alabama regiment for the Confederacy. Emily and Clement were the parents of ten known children, six girls and four boys, namely:

1. William Henry Chatham (1874-1959)
2. Martha Clemintine Chatham Morgan Henson (1875-1967)
3. James Harvey Chatham (1877-1947)
4. Mary Lee Chatham Hill (1883-1971)
5. Vivian Chatham Carroll (1885-1965)
6. Fannie Eugenia Chatham Johnson Ball (1888-1975)
7. Jesse Clement Chatham (1889-1961)
8. Alabama B. Chatham (1891-1891) (or 1887-1891?)
9. Zona Jane Chatham Meyers (1893-1982)
10. Charles Chatham (1896-1984)

In 1880 Clement (a farmer), Emily and the first three children were living at Coryell County, Texas. In 1900 Clement (a farmer), Emily (mother of ten, nine living) and children James, Mary, Vivian, Eugenia, Jesse, Zona and Charles were living at Coryell County, Texas.

I used to have Andrew J. Chatham (1894-1901) as a child in this family, but he was really the son of Clement's younger brother, Robert Timmons Chatham (1869-1949).

Links to Emily's parents, husband, all of her ten known children and seven of her nine known siblings are included below.
