Mrs. Lena F. Chandler, 87, formerly of 1012 W. Walnut St., died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for the last year and a half and had been a resident of Turtle Creek Convalescent Centre during that time. Born Nov. 21, 1887, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Oliver and Dora (Busey) Smith. In 1917, she was married to J. Paul Chandler who preceded her in death in 1971. Prior to her marriage she had taught school in Kokomo. Most of her married life was spent in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.
Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Russell (Ruth) Tomlinson, Clinton, Wisc.; one brother, Rex Smith, Rohnert Park, Calif., and five grand-children.
One son, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Crown Point Cemetery with her son-in-law, the Rev. Russell Tomlinson officiating. Friends may call at Ellers Chapel between 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday.
