Mrs. Dodson Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. L. M. Dodson, aged 79 years, passed away at her home in this city at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 1938, after an extended illness due to cancer.
She was the widow of the late J. M. Dodson and had made her home here many years, and had a host of friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 3 p.m. Sunday, Revs. McClelland and Ferguson officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Lavonia Melvina Dodson was born in Utah, Ala., July 13, 1858. At the age of nine years she went to Texas, later moving to Oklahoma where she resided the past 36 years. She was converted in Texas 50 years ago and had been an active member of the Baptist church of Davis since 1917.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J. B. McDonald, Modena, Utah; Mrs. J. A. Banks, Salinas, Cal., and Mrs. Pete Collier, Wynnewood; one son, H. A. Blish, Ada, Okla.; eight step-children, Mrs. D. S. Griffin, Davis; Mrs. W. I. Ludwick, Waco, Texas; Garland Dodson, Pauls Valley; Floyd and Wm. J. Dodson, Los Angeles; Mrs. Elmer Ridgeway, Mrs. Ella Johnson and Mrs. Bolen Loyd, all of Oklahoma City; and six grandchildren.
