DEATH OF RICHARD J. HUGHES
Richard J. Hughes, former resident of this city, and like other members of his family, a mason by profession, died suddenly at his home in Havana Sunday morning, March 23rd.
Mr. Hughes was a musician and orchestra leader, and his "Puddle Jumper" orchestra was in great local demand some years ago.
He was born in this city on December 15, 1886, a son of Henry and Emma (Burge) Hughes.
He is survived by his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Earl Jones, Mrs. Robert Pedigo, Virginia Ellen Hughes, all of Havana; Mrs. Lloyd Swise, of Cuba; one son, William of Havana; three brothers, John of Havana, Harry and Rudolph, of Lewistown, and three sisters, Mrs. Don May, Lewistown; Mrs. Lucille Miller, Orlando, Fla.; Mrs. Albert Rice, Denver, Colo.
There are 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26 at the Neiderer Funeral Home in Havana with the Rev. James L. Dial in charge and interment was in the Laurel Hill cemetery at Havana.
This obituary omitted mentioning Richard Hughes' wives. He married Della Flo Tippey in Lewistown on August 3, 1892. After her death in 1919, he married Margaret Frances FitzHenry on March 4, 1922.
