Mr. Carl Mitchem, age 74, of the New Harmony Community passed away December 8, 2009 in a V.A. Nursing Home in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was born October 8, 1935 in Darlington, Florida to Arvin and Burler Alford Mitchem.
Mr. Carl Mitchem was a veteran veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Carl Mitchem was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother
Mr. Carl Mitchem is survived by his wife Wera Wynell Mitchem of the New Harmony Community; one daughter Julia Bish and husband Tom of McCordsville, Indiana; one son Gary Mitchem and wife Linda of DeFuniak Springs; one step-son Barry McCall of the New Harmony Community; one step-daughter Shelia King of Andalusia, Alabama; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three step- grandchildren; two brothers Jeremiah Mitchem and wife Juanita and Wendell Mitchem and wife Debra, one sister Ella Catherine Smith and husband Dee all of Darlington, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00~11:00 AM, Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Relief Society Room.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop William Everett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Limestone Cemetery.
Floral arrangements are being accepted.
