Funeral services for Thurman W. Hill, 63, of 2115 Fifth street, a retired former mechanic for the City of Port Arthur, will be held today at 5 p.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral home chapel.

Mr. Hill died Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in his home following an illness of two years.

The Rev. Van Turman, assistant pastor of the Methodist Temple, will officiate. The body will be taken to the Bethel Baptist church at Appleby, Tex. for services to be held there Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in an Appleby cemetery.

Mr. Hill was a native of Appleby and had lived in Port Arthur for 22 years. He retired as a mechanic in 1963. He was a former foreman in the City garage and was also a former mechanic for Bailey's Motor company here. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist church and the Port Arthur Masonic Lodge, 1264.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lola Hill of Port Arthur; four sons, Vernon Neal Hill of Clute, Tex., Larry Joe Hill of Port Arthur, Don Haden Hill of Madison, Wis., and Roy Max Hill of Bridge City; five daughters, Mrs. Aline McGillbury of Bridge City, Mrs. Jean Lee of Hot Springs, Ark., and Mrs. Mary East, Mrs. Brenda Prince and Ada Beth Hill, all of Port Arthur; his father, Tom H. Hill; and one brother, Tommy Hill, both of Appleby; five sisters, Mrs. Cecil Forse and Mrs. Bob Partin, both of Nacogdoches, Mrs. J.L. Swanson of Port Arthur, Mrs. Murphy Babb of Beaumont and Mrs. Lillian Stephens of Appleby; and 23 grandchildren.
