Mable Barker Kirk Garrett Cox, 76, was born July 3, 1923 in Athens, Alabama to James Samuel Washington Barker and Mattie Morris Barker.
She taught school in Limestone County for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Cox; one son, two sisters, Ruth Shelton of Athens and Sally Hess of Decatur; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Johnny Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Cox died Sunday, November 7, 1999 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Funeral for Mable B. Garrett Cox, 76, of Athens will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Johnny Jenkingsofficiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Cox died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

She was born July 3, 1923, in Limestone County. She was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and a member of First Baptist Church in Athens. She was a member of the Civitans Club, Teachers Association and PBW Association. She taught school in Limestone County for more than 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Cox, one son, two sisters, Ruth Shelton of Athens and Sally Hess of Decatur, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
