Funeral services for Cleora Stark Brittian, 86, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Johnny McDonald officiating and David Milstead assisting. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brittian died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at her residence under the care of Area Community Hospice. She was born May 30, 1923, in Plainview to Avie L. Stark and Onalee Robertson.
She married Lewis Vincent Brittian on April 14, 1941, in Clovis, N.M. He died March 16, 2003. She was a member of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ, a lifetime member of PTA, member and past president of the Mary McCoy Baines Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She also was a past member of the Hale County Historical Commission.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Doug Rivers of Plainview; one brother and sister-in-law, Lytton and Mertice Stark of Plainview; six grandchildren, Robert Burt and his wife, Machael, Christopher Burt and his wife, Dawn, Amanda Burt and Jessica Alderson, all of Plainview, Mathew Alderson of Gatesville and Misti Mobley and her husband, Jerry, of Kaufman; 11 grandchildren; and special cousins, Mary and Robert Hall of Dumas.
