Loa, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Spencer T. Rees, age 89, died suddenly at his home in Loa on December 3, 2009.

He was born October 20, 1920 in Loa, a son of Brigham and Viola Taylor Rees. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1938. He attended Weber State College in Ogden for one year, majoring in Telegraphy.

He joined the Army Air Corp and served his country during World War II.

Spencer married Luzenia Mayhew, March 24, 1944 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Spencer was very active in the LDS Church, serving in numerous positions including Bishop of the Loa Ward for 8 years, Wayne Stake High Council, Temple assignments in the St. George Temple for 3 years, missionary service, first as a young man in the Northern States Mission and then with his wife in the Philippines Cebu Mission; San Diego California Mission and at Cove Fort.

Spencer was a farmer-dairyman his entire life and besides his family, his farm was his life. He was proud of his beautiful farm in dry valley.

He served as a Director for Garkane Power; on the Loa Town Board; was a member of the American Legion and was a baseball coach.

Spencer enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, music and quartet singing. His greatest joy was being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing old fashioned games and singing old songs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Luzenia, of Loa; children: Stephen and Linda Rees, currently serving an LDS Mission in the Moscow Russia Mission; Stanley and Karen Rees of Sandy; Carolee and Craig Tatton of Centerville; Devon and Claudia Rees of Midway; Jolynn and Jim Blodgett, currently serving an LDS Mission in Nauvoo; Sterling and Cynthia Rees of Salem; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Kenneth and Loyia Rees of Bicknell; Rhoda Magleby of Pittsburg, California; Nola Myrl and Ted Christensen of American Fork.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Stanley Rees; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Mitchell.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah
