William Nolan was the son of Henry Clay Noland and Mary "Polly" Ashby,daughter of Revolutionary War soldier, James Abel Ashby. I haven't found proof that Mary's name was ever Margaret. Typically, the nickname for Margaret was Peggy and the nickname for Mary was Polly. Mary was noted as Polly in several records.
William's father, Henry died when he was 55 years old.

- Ross E. Noland: 10 Jun 1867 - 18 Feb 1945 ( never married)
