"Ed 'Moonbeam' Webster 1920-2008

Ed 'Moonbeam' Webster, of Bowie, died at home at the age of 88 on Sept. 3, 2008. He was born in Solomonville, Ariz. on March 25, 1920, to Gilbert Webster and Hanna Funston Webster and was a lifelong resident of Arizona moving to Bowie in 1972.

Ed served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, was a retired Locomotive Engineer for Southern Pacific Railroad; a member of the Old Time Fiddlers, Bowie Lions Club, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Ed also was featured with a picture and article in the book titled "History of Railroads of Tucson, Arizona", for which he was most proud of.

Survivors include his daughter Sharon (Mel) Jackson of Bowie, sons Edward of Bowie and Kenyon (Jeannie) of Oakdale, Calif., along with eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his sister Beth Smith of Tucson. Preceding him in death was his wife Helen on April 27, 2007 and his daughter Sandra Prince.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at Bowie United Methodist Church. Private interment of his cremains will be in Desert Rest Cemetery in Bowie. Contributions may be made in Ed's name to Rural Accent, P.O. Box 294, Bowie, AZ 85605.

Services are under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox, Ariz."
