Pansy Marie Schwenninger, of Elwood, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on December 3, 2009, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska. Pansy was 78 years of age having been born on March 26, 1931, in Smithfield, Nebraska to Lee and Sylvia Mills.

Pansy graduated from Eustis (Nebraska) High School. On February 14, 1948, she married Ivan W. Schwenninger in Kearney, Nebraska. They moved to the Schwenninger farm west of Elwood and lived there together until Ivan's death in 1987. She continued to live on the farm until her move to Elwood in 1998. She was very proud of the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award that the farm received for 100 years of continuous family ownership in 2006.

During the years of raising her family, she was busy assisting her husband with the farm, teaching her daughters how to sew for 4-H, and attending her son's athletic events. Pansy enjoyed baking, quilting, and gardening, and in recent years, she became an avid collector of anything decorated with pansies. She was a member of Alexis Club, Federated Women's Club of Kearney, Plum Creek Garden Club, LWML and Thrivent. As quilt coordinator at the Lutheran Church, she created many quilts for missions with other ladies of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Pansy was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by:her husband, Ivan Schwenninger; her parents Lee and Sylvia Mills; her brother Donald Mills and her sister Shirley Houser.

Pansy is survived by children: Geraldine (Allen) Steinbrink of Arapahoe, Nebraska Sherle Schwenninger of New York City, New York; Sharlette Schwenninger of Elwood, Nebraska; brothers Everald (Pat) Mills, of Arlington, Washington, and Dwayne (Grace) Mills of Port Hueneme, California; sisters, Beverly (Kenneth) Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Georgetta (Jack ) Harris of Gordon, Nebraska; sister-in-law Grace (Don) Mills of Lincoln, Nebraska and a host of relatives; and many friends, young and old.
