Everald Earl Mills (1941 - 2018)

May 29, 1941 - February 20, 2018 Everald Earl Mills passed to be with the Lord, February 20, 2018. He was born in Eustis, NE on May 29, 1941. Everald attended a one-room school until the eighth grade in the farming country of Nebraska. He attended the University of Nebraska, earning his Bachelors in Physics (1962). After working at Hanford, he went to Washington State University earning his Masters in Physics (1968) and PhD in Computer Science (1972). He began his teaching career at Wichita State University during the infancy of computers and IT. As Chairman and Director, he wrote and developed the curriculum and requirements for BS and MS degree programs. In 1983, Seattle University hired him as Director of the MS degree in Software Engineering Program, unique in being the only program of its type in the world at that time. For Seattle University, he also developed the BS degree in Computer Science. After 23 years (in 2006), he retired as an Emeritus Professor to the woods north of Arlington where he had an actual coal train from the Black Diamonds, WA Mines adorning his property. His family was the most important part of his life. He participated in their activities, especially with his son, Lee, an Eagle Scout. He worked with the Seventh Step Prison Release and Rehabilitation program in Kansas. He enjoyed leading men's Bible and small study groups, particularly those regarding fatherless boys. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of 56 years and 17 days; three children, Jennifer (David) Riemer, Lee (Charla) Mills and Maren (Howard) Ditsworth; seven grandchildren; one sister, Georgetta Harris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; his parents, Lee and Sylvia Mills; and siblings, Pansy, Don, Shirley, Beverly and Dwayne.
