ANDREWS Lyra Parsons Griffin, 84, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Williamsburg Co. near Andrews on Jan. 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Maxie Hartwell Parsons and Mildred McCants Parsons . She grew up in Andrews, was a graduate of Andrews High School, and was employed by Andrews Bank and Trust Co. She moved to Hickory, N.C. for a time, where she was employed by Maiden Knitting Mills. Mrs. Parsons returned to live in Andrews about twenty years ago and was a member of First Baptist Church of Andrews. She was the widow of Albert Leroy Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by: three brothers, Olis, Weldon, and Woodrow Parsons ; and three sisters, Waver Swails, Mae Young, and Euke Green.
Surviving are: three sisters, Irma Parsons Mears of Andrews, Mildred Parsons McMullen of Sumter, and Maxine Parsons Phillips of Tullasoma, Tenn.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday morning, Aug. 17, 2005, at First Baptist Church of Andrews. Officiating will be the Rev. Donald P. Sapp and the Rev. Barbee O. Parsons . Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home Tuesday evening, Aug. 16, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m.
