BARKER, MRS. BESSIE FLORENCE - age 95 of New Tazewell, TN was born on August 2, 1913 and passed away on August 21, 2008. Wife of the late Flonza W. Barker. She was saved at an early age and attended Carr's Branch Baptist Church. She was a resident of Laurel Manor Health Care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Alice (Keck) Sherritze; 3 brothers, Forrest, Luna and Ruble Sherritze; 2 sisters, Lucinda (Sissy) Collins and Imogene Brewer. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy and husband Reverend George C. Walker of New Tazewell, TN; son, Basil Barker of New Tazewell, TN; grandchildren: Gary Walker and wife Tammy, Donna Barnard and husband Steve, Anthony G. (Rusty) Barker and wife Beth, Travis Duane Barker and wife Lisa; great grandchildren: Chris Walker, Samantha and Shannon Walker, Lance and wife Mary Barnard, Brandon and wife Amy Barnard, Joshua Barnard, Emily and A.J. Barker, Rachel and Ryan Barker; great-great grandchildren: Kayla, Matthew, and Tyler Johns, Riley and Cooper Barnard; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 23, 2008 from 5 until 7 PM with funeral services to follow at 7 PM in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend George Walker, Reverend Steve Barnard and Reverend Lance Barnard officiating. Music will be provided by the Heritage Choir under the direction of David Cole. Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 10 AM in the Phillip Keck Cemetery.
