Glenn Lowder, age 83 of Springville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007.

He was born October 9, 1923 in Parowan, Utah to Jesse Frank Lowder and Mary Alice Bentley Lowder.

He married Irene Shakespeare on January 23, 1943.

She preceded him in death in 1990.

Glenn then married Ilene Penrod on September 3, 1993 in the Jordan River Temple.

She preceded him in death in 2002.

Glenn served as a training Sgt. during World War II, stationed in Texas, Fort Hood.

For his service, he was awarded the Bronze leader.

He worked as the maintenance supervisor at Bryce Canyon National Park where he met the love of his life.

He worked in the mines in the west desert.

Mining was a great passion of his that he shared with his sons that are still active today.

He was a construction supervisor for J.M. Sumsion and Sons and Strong Company.

He was also a member of the operating engineers for 53 years.

Glenn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many church and temple callings.

One of his greatest accomplishments was serving a L.D.S. Mission to Adam-ondi-ahman with his first wife Irene, preparing for the second coming.

He was loved by neighbors and friends for all of his kindness and helping hands.

He is survived by two sisters, LaRee Burrows and Emma Alder; two sons, Dale S. Lowder and Kenneth F. Lowder and his wife Cindy L. Lowder. Glenn had 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 840 South 400 East in Springville.

There will be a viewing held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and at the church on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
