Solomon HINDLEY was the brother of Elizabeth Amanda HINELY PEVEY (who is buried in this cemetery), and of Frances HINELY PEVEY ABBOTT (who is buried in Effingham County).
Solomon's first wife is unknown - she must have died before 1850; by her, he was the father of Elizabeth HINDLEY, born about 1846. Solomon was then the first husband of Harriet Ann BENNETT; their only child was William E. HINDLEY, born 1866. Solomon died in 1878 and Harriett remarried in 1882.
In June of 1870, Sol HINDLEY, an Engine Builder, age 45 years, & Henrietta, 30, and their son, William E., 4, were living in Savannah, with two boarders surnamed BURNETT from South Carolina and a domestic servant.
Funeral Invitations. HINDLEY.-The relatives, friends and acquaintance of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon HINDLEY, S. C. ROBERTS and family, Mr. and Mrs. William BERRY, and of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. BENNETT, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of Mr. Solomon HINDLEY, at St. John's Church, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.
Abstract from Laurel Grove Cemetery Keepers Book: Solomon HINDLEY died the 4th of November, 1878, and was buried the following day in Lot 278. He was a native of Effingham County, aged 52 years, 10 months and 11 days, and a resident of Gordon Street in Davis Ward.
