James D. Hilliard Sr.

James Dillard Hilliard Sr., 80, of 709 Eighth St., Shenandoah died Aug. 22, 1992 at his home.

Mr. Hilliard was born April 30, 1912, in Page County and was the son of the late J. B. Hilliard and Della Jane Strole Hilliard.

He was a member of Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion and a graduate of Shenandoah High School.

On July 15, 1938, he married the former Alice Comer, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James Hilliard Jr. of Roanoke and Charles Hilliard of Shenandoah; five daughters, Elizabeth Lloyd of Orange, Betty Miller and Dorothy Shifflett, both of Shenandoah, Marth Roy of Bristol, Tenn., and Barbara Saum of Harrisonburg; one brother, Otis Hilliard of Shenandoah; one sister Elsie Thompson of Hagerstown, Md.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Ralph Green will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Today at the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery at Shenandoah.

Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah is handling arrangements.
