Sadie L. Ankney, 77, of Jeannette, formerly of Derry, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. She was born June 24, 1929, in Millwood Shaft, Derry Township, a daughter of the late Homer S. and Elizabeth Mac Elwood McCurdy.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by Eighteenth Century Hardware, Derry. Sadie was a charter member of the Bible Baptist Church, Kingston.
Sadie is survived by three daughters, Sandra Fierst and husband John, Jeannette, Dottie Wood and husband Edwin, Richmond, Va., and Darlene Lehman, Bradenville; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence McCurdy and wife Mary, Kernersville, N.C.; a sister, Rose Moyher and husband Stephen, Derry Township; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Scott Sr., Homer Jr., Laurence, Leroy, Charles and Robert McCurdy; and two sisters, Anna Irene Garris and Isabell Mae Todd.
Friends were received in the Michael J. Quinlisk Funeral Home, Derry. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today in Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew Schwender officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
