ROBERT A. VAUGHAN, mining operator, was born in Darlington District, S .C., in 1837, and located in Texas at the age of fourteen, where he engaged in stock-rearing, with which he was connected until 1864, after which he engaged in stock-dealing through Kansas and Colorado, which he actively followed until 1878, when he took up his present industry, and has very actively carried it on since. He married, in 1856, in Tex as, Miss Louisa Joy, a native of Arkansas. They have a family of two sons and two daughters - Dollie E., Wiley R., Jessie and Edith. Mr. Vaughan no w has in active operation mines on Lot No. 2, Maggie Taylor tract; Lo t No. 20, East Galena tract; Lot No. 1, Hoy tract; and Lot No. 32, Bloomington tract. 1880 Galena, Cherokee, Kansas

Robert Alonzo Vaughn Died Friday Afternoon

Death Came to End Suffering of Aged Galena Citizen, After a Lingering Illness.

Robert Alonzo Vaughn age 78, died at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of his son, Jesse Vaughn of East Galena after an illness of many months.

Mr. Vaughn was born December 6, 1937 in Ashville, South Carolina. He became a member of the Christian church more than 40 years ago and since that time has been a constant member.

Deceased was one of the pioneer residents of this city. He is survived by three sons, Jesse and Wylie Vaughn of this city and Ray Vaughn, of Dallas Texas. Two daughters, Mrs. Dorotha Brasington of Anadarka, Okla., and Mrs. B. S. Myers, of Fort Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Vaughn having preceded him nineteen years ago.

Funeral services will be held at the residence of Jesse Vaughn, at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. J. Bradshaw officiating, Burial will be in the Galena cemetery.
