RANVILLE, Dorothy Marie - Of Flint, age 83, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Maplewood Adult Foster Care in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:15PM Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 South Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc, Father James R. Swiat officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Maplewood Adult Foster Care. Visitation 12-3 and 5-8PM Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A rosary will be prayed at 7PM Monday evening at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born in Ludington, Michigan on May 27, 1921. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing the piano. Dorothy worked as church secretary at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 1967 until 1975. She also worked for the State of Michigan and retired from there in 1985. In her retirement, Dorothy spent many hours visiting the sick and elderly and volunteered weekly at the Clio Convalescent Center for over 10 years. Dorothy completed a two-year certificate from Ferris Institute (now Ferris State University) in 1941. There she met the love of her life, Donald Robert Ranville. They married in November of 1941 and settled in Flint, where they raised their family.

Dorothy is survived by her 8 children, Donald (Shirley) of Cedar, Michigan, Michael (Carol) of Charlotte, David (Laura) of DeWitt, Dennis and (Sandy) of Holt, Mary (Thomas) Beach of Fairview Park, Ohio, Martin (Paula) of Fenton, Gerard (Stacey) of Flint and Laurice (Craig) Haskett of Bay Village, Ohio. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her 2 brothers, William and Lloyd.
