Charles "Cleve" Stokes of Cottonwood died suddenly Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 58. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow at the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery; Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. Family and friends are invited for a fellowship meal following the graveside ser-vice at 5 P.M. at Memphis Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 P.M. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009. Flowers will be accepted. Mr. Stokes was born on March 12, 1951 in Dothan, Alabama. He had been a resident of Houston County for all of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Culpepper Stokes and a brother, Billy Ray Stokes. Survivors include: his father, Billy Stokes of Cottonwood; sister, Celia Stokes Cox of Cottonwood; nieces, Kelley Cox, Amy Cox, two great-nieces, Laura Cox, Maggie James; aunts, Violet Hamilton, Bernice Flowers, Pauline Mansell & Will-odene Stokes. Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home, Cemetery and Crematory, (334) 792-4194, is in charge of arrangements.
