ALEXANDER
The death of John Holliday Alexander occurred at his home, 302 Kirkwood boulevard, this morning. Mr. Alexander was 78 years of age and death is said to be due from old age, hastened by stomach trouble. He was born in Hollidaysburg, Pa., May 19, 1825. His mother was a member of an old family after whom the town was named. He came west in 1850 and in 1853 married Miss Elizabeth Dickson. They resided at Summit, Scott county, until about 14 years ago when they removed to Davenport and have made their home in this city ever since.
Mr. Alexander was a member of the Presbyterian church, having assisted in the building of the Summit church. He was an of that congregation until his removal to Davenport. He leaves besides his wife, two brothers and four sisters.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church at Davenport.
