Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, at First United Methodist Church of Pana at 10 a.m. with Dr. David Hultberg officiating. Burial will be at Rosamond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond.
Friends may call Friday, Nov. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, and Saturday, from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. An Eastern Star service will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born Aug. 10, 1916, in Assumption, to the late Earl P. and Mary E. (Thurn) Bilyeu, she married Loren John Kirkbride on June 6, 1940, in the Assumption Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1994.
She was a graduate of Assumption High School Class of 1934 and attained her teaching certificate from Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO. She taught in Assumption, Noblesville, IN, and Cairo. She taught in Pike School in Rosamond Township and later was a substitute teacher in the Pana School District for many years.
Mrs. Kirkbride was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pana and former member of the Rosamond Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Rosalind Chapter #736, Order of Eastern Star, Owaneco for over 50 years; White Shrine, Christian County Home Extension, Tuesday Club, Home & Garden Club and United Methodist Women. Her life revolved around her faith, family and friends.
She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, embroidering, making quilt blocks and social activities.
She is survived by one son, John (wife Mary) E. Kirkbride of Tower Hill; two daughters, Marikay Fikan of Rosamond and Suzanne (husband William "Butch") Dooley of Nokomis; seven grandchildren, Doug (wife Audrey) Kirkbride of Pana, Marci (husband Kevin) Campbell and Lucas (wife Stephanie) Kirkbride of Shelbyville, Chris (wife Shelly) Fikan of Rosamond, Rachelle (husband David) Wolf of Raymond, Michael (wife Jennifer) Dooley of Monticello, and Tim (wife Cyndi) Hoehn of Witt; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and one sister-in-law.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jacqueline Kay Fikan and Tracy Lee (Dooley) Hoehn; three brothers and two sisters.
