Alfred Thurn Bilyeu, 88, of Taylorville died Friday, February 6, 2015, in Springfield, IL.

Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in First United Methodist Church of Assumption with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, February 9, 2015 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Masonic services by Bromwell Masonic Lodge #451 will follow at 7pm.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or First United Methodist Church of Taylorville.

Alfred was born May 31, 1926, in Christian County, the son of Earl Parsonage and Mary Estella (Thurn) Bilyeu. He married Clara Mae Christenberry April 22, 1945 in First United Methodist Church of Assumption. She survives.

Alfred was a member of First United Methodist Church of Taylorville, Christian County Shrine, Ansar Shrine and Bromwell Masonic Lodge #451 of Assumption. He was a graduate of Assumption High School and then began a lifetime career as a farmer in the Assumption and Taylorville areas. Alfred also raised Black Angus Cattle and sold Northrup King Seed Corn.

Surviving is his wife, Clara; daughter: Carolyn (Thurman) Bush of Clarksville, TN; sons: James (Judy) Bilyeu of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Mark (Lori) Bilyeu of Assumption, IL; grandchildren: Tamera Hall, Kevin Swinger, Eric Swinger ,Timothy Bilyeu, Michael Bilyeu, Curtis Bilyeu, Lindsay Mitchell and Heath Bilyeu; eleven great-grandchildren; brother: Robert Bilyeu of Assumption, IL and two sisters: Gladys Anderson of Venice FL., and Estella Sterling of Decatur, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers: Wallace, Donald and Dwayne Bilyeu; sisters: Katherine Kirkbride, Mary Virginia Kaufman and Dorothy Brown.
