Last Rites Held for Samuel Ennis (Dennis) Ferguson
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church for Samuel Dennis Ferguson, age 80 years, who passed away Tuesday morning at his home in Floydada about 7 o'clock. Rev. G.W. Tubbs conducted the services assisted by Rev. Sidney Johnston, of McCoy community. Ferguson was a member of the McCoy Baptist Church. He joined the church in 1902 in Oklahoma.
Mr. Ferguson came to Floyd County from Wynoka (Waynoka), Oklahoma, in 1909. He was married to Miss Martha Francis (Frances) Decker, January 21, 1880. To this union eight children were born, all survive except one son, S.D. Ferguson, he died in 1930. Mrs. Ferguson died July 22, 1934. Surviving children include: four daughters, Mrs. John Wahl, Mrs. W.H. Furrow, Mrs. Efford Parrish, all of Floydada; Mrs. Ethel Wise, Wichita, Kansas; three sons, W.F. Ferguson, Floydada; J.H. Ferguson, Wichita, Kansas; Roy Ferguson, Los Angeles, California; 31 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren survive.
Mr. Ferguson was married to Mrs. Arlie Jones, March 5, 1935, and who also survives. Two sisters in Oklahoma and two sisters in Missouri, and one brother who lives in Oklahoma survive, but their addresses were unknown.
Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased.
Interment was made in Floydada Cemetery with Harmon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
