Mrs. Vera Crews Sikes, 79, died suddenly Thursday (October 20, 2005).
She was a native of Bacon County but had resided most of her life in Waycross. She was a daughter to the late Daniel Crews and Lillie Riggins Crews. She was married to the late George F. Sikes, Sr. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Audrey Miller, Paschal Crews, Ray Crews, Ora Carter, Melvin Crews, Lee Roy Crews, and Bethea Stewart.
She was a member of Woodard Chapel Congregational Methodist Church.
The survivors include a son, Freddie Sikes (wife Vera) of Waycross; two grandchildren, Rick Sikes (wife Tatum) of Waycross and Kristi Green (husband John) of Blackshear; five great grandchildren, Cullen Green of Brunswick, Davis Green and Julia Green both of Blackshear, and Landon Sikes of Waycross; a brother, D.W. Crews of Covington, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (October 22, 2005) at Greenlawn Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will be held in Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Friday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
