Daniel W. Crews, age 93, of Covington, formerly of Lithonia, died Sunday, April 22, 2018. Born in Alma Georgia to the late Daniel William and Lillian Crews. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was retired from General Motors, Doraville after 30 years of faithful service. He attended the Covington Church of God where he played the piano until his health declined. Dan loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionally called him Gran Gran. Preceded in death by his siblings, a daughter, Linda Crews Bailey and granddaughter, Stacey Crews Stallings, surviving are his daughter, Brenda Merritt and her husband, Jeff; sons, Danny Crews and his wife, Bobbie, Jimmy Crews and his wife, Robin; grandchildren, Kelly and Richard Martin, Ginger Merritt, Terry Merritt, Deanne and Michael Stock, Robin and Bobby Culver, Chris and Sandi Bailey and Scott Stallings; great grandchildren, Alisha and Lance Carmichael, Shelby Stallings, Cassie ,Alex, and B.J Culver, Abigail and Jasper Martin, Gabrielle Merritt Daniel, David and Rebecca Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held 11 o’clock Wednesday in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bennett and Pastor Deanne Lynch Officiating. Interment will follow at the Lithonia City Cemetery with Military Honors. Contributions may be made in his memory to St Jude Childrens Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-990 or Abby Hospice 215 Azalea Ct, Social Circle GA 30025. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia.
