Verna D. Bybee, age 94, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Christian Health Center in Hermitage, MO. She was born in Benton County, Missouri, on July 19, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Leota Smith Brown.

She grew up in Benton County and on October 15, 1936, she was united in marriage to Hadley "Buzz" Bybee at Warsaw. Following their marriage, they made their home in Cross Timbers, moving to St. Louis in 1941. While living in St. Louis, she worked as a waitress. In 1951, they returned to Warsaw and were happy to spend the next 54 years together at their home outside Warsaw.

Vernie was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flowers and tending to her flock of chickens. She like to crochet and spent many hours making afghans and doilies for her family. She and Buzz also enjoyed hours of fishing together.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buzz, in April of 1991, and an infant daughter, Karen Diane, on November 11, 1951, her parents and a sister, Dorothy Smith.

She is survived by two brothers, Virgil Brown and his wife, Betty, of Kansas City, MO; Olen Brown, and his wife, Arlene, of Cross Timbers, MO; a sister, Carol Lee Mayfield, of the state of Arizona, two step-brothers, Leonard Suiter, and wife, Arlee, of Springfield, MO, and Leo Suiter, and wife, Alice, of the state of Alabama, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Vernie Bybee will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Jason McCray, officiating. Burial will be in the Fristoe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the Reser Funeral Home.
