Olen Edward "Buster" Brown, age 82, of rural Cross Timbers, MO, died peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, on Thursday, April 7, 2016. He was born at home north of Cross Timbers, MO, on November 23, 1933, the son of Edward Carroll and Myrtle Lee Simpson Suiter Brown. He attended school in Cross Timbers and graduated from Cross Timbers High School in 1951. After graduation he lived at home and worked on the family farm. In January of 1953, Buster joined the United States Air Force and served his basic training in California. He was transferred to Scott Air Force base in Illinois where at a roller rink he met his future wife, Arlene Joy Travis, who also served in the air force. He was transferred to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and served a special mission at Las Vegas, Nevada where they worked on A-bombs. He said many times the men would sit in their bunkers and watch the bombs go off over the desert. When he returned to Florida he was transferred to Patrick Air Force base south of Cocoa Beach, FL. Arlene had served her tour and moved to Florida where she and Buster were married on August 3, 1956. Following his honorable discharge in January of 1957, they moved to Kansas City, MO where he started two years of technical school studying electronics and working full time at Bendix Corporation. They were blessed with four children, Belinda, Debbie, Ronald and Daniel. In 1967, they moved back to the family farm near Cross Timbers where Buster pursued his dream of farming. He continued farming for the next 49 years until the week before his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald, two sisters, Vernie and Dorothy and a brother, Leonard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene, of the home, 3 children, Belinda Miller of Fair Grove, MO, Debbie Blazek of Austin, TX, and Daniel Brown of Cross Timbers, MO, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Virgil Brown of Kansas City, MO, Leo Suiter of Alabama and one sister, Carol Lee Mayfield of Arizona, other family and many friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Reser Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Medlock officiating. Burial will be in the Cross Timbers Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO. Arrangements entrusted to care of Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, MO.
