MOTHER AND BABE BURIED TOGETHER
Mrs. David Iske and Newly Born Babe Buried Yesterday Afternoon
Funeral at 2:30
The funeral services of the late Mrs. David Iske were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian Church, the Reverend R. H. Heiser in charge of the services. The church was filled with sorrowing friends and relatives, who mourned the death of a mother who was so needed by her family. The mother and new-born babe Paul Eugene were buried together in one casket. The circumstances of the death of the mother and her baby were probably the saddest that have been known in this community for some time and the father and the surviving seven children have the most sincere sympathy of the entire community. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Madge Crosby, Mrs. E. C. Smith, E.C. Ogg and Harry Morrow. They were accompanied on the piano by Miss Jean Sellman. Three selections were sung: "Face to Face", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and "In the Hour of Trial". The Pallbearers were James Kelly, Paul Kelly, Ivan Kelly, Fred Jess, Louis Iske and Elmer Kracht. Burial was made in Newton Union Cemetery. A large number of friends and relatives, attended the funeral from a distance. Among these were included, Mrs. Iske's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shaw, Mrs. Inez Clifford, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw, Will Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Will Iske, Mrs. Roy Taken and Mrs. Ray Taken, all of Estaline, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith of Davenport, Amos Iske, of South Omaha, Neb., Mr and Mrs. John Wolf and Mrs. Will Benskin, of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Merle Paul, of Laurel. There were also a large number of other friends and relatives from Laurel, Monroe and other neighboring points in this county and vicinity.
