Abingdon - Funeral services for Conrad Schisler, 71, a retired farmer and truck gardener, who died Monday at 8:30 p.m. in his home, 701 S. Main St., Abingdon, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. here in the Larson Funeral Home.
Friends may call Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Abingdon. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Donald Hogan of the Abingdon Christian Church will officiate.
Mr. Schisler was born May 10, 1891, near Vermont in Schuyler County, and lived in the Abingdon area 60 years. He attended Indian Point rural schools. He had been ill four years.
He retired from farming in 1940, and operated a service station and grocery business at Springfield prior to entering the truck garden business at Abingdon. Mr. Schisler was married to Ollie Passent at Ellisville Sept. 24, 1912.
Survivors are the widow; a son William of Abingdon; two daughters, Mrs. Garrett Anderson of near Avon and Mrs. Silas Mack of East Galesburg; four brothers, John of Berwick, Arthur of Rock Island, Martin of Abingdon and Homer of Claremore, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Danner of Abingdon, and Mrs. Fanny (Fannie) Voorhees, of Abingdon, and Mrs. Serna (Syrena) McDonald of Astoria; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
