Joseph D. Dicus, 66, of Jasonville and formerly of Dugger, died Friday, March 14 2003, at the Dialysis Center in Linton. Born July 30, 1936, in Owen County, he was the son of William Clay and Jessie America (Rawley) Dicus. He had worked as a farm hand.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Dean Dicus of Plainfield and Andy Dicus of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Brenda Daniels of Dugger and Judy Edmonson of Indianapolis; three brothers, Richard Dicus of Indianapolis, Vernon Dicus and Jack Dicus, both of Midland; five sisters, Helen Fougerousse of Jasonville, Edna Vasham of Ohio, Bessie Bays of Terre Haute, Maxine Dicus of Terre Haute and Rosalie Buckallew of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lee (Hutcherson) Dicus, on Jan. 23, 1996; two daughters, Darlene Edmonson and Robin Burdette; an infant daughter, Peggy Sue Hutcherson; an infant son, Charles Blain Dicus; an infant sister, Pearl Dicus; and his parents.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Welch and Cornett Linton Chapel with the Rev. Terry Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

A descendant of Valentine Sevier (a revolutionary war hero) and Joanna Goad Sevier. The brother of Valentine is John Sevier, the first governor of Tennessee and a revolutionary war hero.
