John Johansen, 69, pioneer resident of this city, died of a heart attack Saturday at the family home. Mr Johansen had been in failing healt more than five years.
He was born in Mount Pleasant August 17, 1867, a son of Niels and Annie Anderson Johansen. He engaged in farming and stock growing.
He married Rose Etta Tidwell in the Manti L.D.S. temple December 9, 1886. She survives him, with six sons and daughters; Clara Etta, Laurence, Virgil, Glen and Delbert Johansen, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Edward Christensen of Moroni, and eleven grandchildren, five brothers and sisters, Nrs. Annie Oman and Andrew Johansen, Boneta; Mrs. L. W. Jensen and Moroni Johansen, Mount Pleasant, and Kimball Johansen of Delta.
Funeral services were conducted at 2p.m. Wednesday in the L.D.S. chapel with Bishop A. L. Peterson of the South ward officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant city cemetery under direction of the Jacobs Mortuary.
