Funeral services were held Sunday for Fred Frederick Arnet, former Kearney county resident, who dies suddenly while at work on the farm of his son Leslie, near Stockham. Services were first held at 10:30 in the church at Stockville and that afternoon at the Layton Funeral Home in Minden at 3:00. Interment was in the Minden cemetery.
The active pallbearers were the six sons. Honorary pallbearers were William Shelley, Oscar Armstuz, R.O. Watkins, Charles Brandt, Ed Vreeland and H.F. Heater, all of Frontier county.
Rev. L.H. Messersmith of Chicago was in charge of the services.
Mr. Arent, the son of Henry H. and Ida Schulz Arent, was born in Kearney county, Nebraska on February 8, 1885. He died April 26, 1950 at the age of 65 years, two months and 18 days.
Fred spent his early boyhood near Minden. march 3, 1909, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Marie Podewitz. Their fist home was on a farm eight and one-half miles northeast of Minden where they resided four years. They later moved to Cambridge, then to Culbertson. In the spring of 1928 they, with their family, moved to Stockville, living there ever since.
This union was blessed with six sons and four daughters, Leslie of Stockham, Cletis, Theodore, Clair and Fred Jr. of Stockville, Charley of Bartley, Mrs. Willa Mortimore of Stockville, Mrs. Beverley Johnson of Farnam, Mrs. Edna Kotschwar of McCook and Leona Arent of Bartley.
Left to mourn his passing besides his devoted wife and children are 24 grandchildren, three brothers, Charley of Uland, John of Minden and William of Nampa, Idaho, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Madsen of Minden; also other relatives and a host of friends. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
