CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Mr. Elwood Farley, 79, of Chapmanville, departed this life Monday, November 16, 2009, at CAMC General Division in Charleston.

Born September 3, 1930, in Harts, he was a son of the late Masil "Dick" and Patsy Butcher Farley. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Tom Farley.

Elwood enjoyed singing in the park, hunting, going to ball games, hanging out at Hardees with his friends and listening to music by Bill Monroe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Stanley Brothers and many more. He also enjoyed watching TV. His favorite was John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Maverick and many more. He liked to travel with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Leota Mae Farley; two daughters, Kathy (Tom) Rayburn and Lawana Farley; three sons, Terry Farley, Michael (Debbie) Adams and Clifton (Paula) Powers; one sister, Virginia Conley; eight grandchildren, Kristen (Mark) Allen, Michah Taylor Farley, Josh (Niki) Rayburn, and Addlyn, Olivia, Elijah, Wesley and Logan Powers.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21, at the Freeman Funeral Home at Chapmanville with Rev. Joe Lane and Rev. Frankie Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Clifton, Roy, Tub, Josh and Arlen.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
