Son of mariner George Wilson and Maria Kimendar. Immigrated to the USA in 1844. Married to Sarah Elizabeth Crowell from 1855 until death. Father of Enlilla/Eulalia Wilson, Zamora Estelle Wilson Eayrs, Leontis E. Wilson (died in infancy), Clarissa Josephine Wilson (died in infancy), Elwood Justin Wilson and Albert Wilson. Epaminondas was a very well known pianoforte maker under the name "E. Wilson and Co." and "Boston Piano". He died of pneumonia and myocarditis at his home at 100 Robinwood Ave. in Jamaica Plain.
