Graveside services for Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Murphy Jones Betts will be conducted Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2009 at 1 o'clock in the Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainsville, Georgia with Rev. Jim Moore officiating.

Mrs. Betts, age 95, passed away, Tuesday morning in Milledgeville. She was a native of Atlanta, the daughter of the late Lemuel Waits and the late Nettie Mae Dennard Murphy. She was the widow of Vilas David Betts. The oldest of eleven children, Mrs. Betts was preceded in death by her sister Virginia Barrentine, brothers, Thaddeus Murphy and Lemuel Murphy. She had made her home in Milledgeville since 1998.

Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Aurelia (Jerry) Huguley of Gainesville, Betty (Tom) Haley of Milledgeville,
son, Cullen B. Jones III of Ellenwood; sisters, Ruth Crawford of Roswell, Katherine Clay of Tyron, Louise Smith of Gainesville, and Patricia Harmon of Sun City Center, Fl;
brothers Claude Murphey and Frank Murphy of Dunwoody, and Charles Murphy of Rome; step-daughter, Judy (Jerry) Jared of Va. 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Methodist Home for Children and Youth, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, Ga., 31203.
